ITIN Approved but the Tax Return Filed Refund Not received Yet. How can you check the Refund Status?

The Covid 19 pandemic had caused significant delays for the ITIN processing and refund processing timeline due to limited team capacity working in shifts at the IRS premises.

Normally, the timeline for the ITIN and Refund processing is as follows,


Listed below are some of the ways you can check your refund status.

Option 1 – Refund status check via the I.R.S. refund website.

Here is the step by step guide:

Click on https://itincaa.com/resources/

Next, click on "WHERE IS MY REFUND." https://www.irs.gov/refunds

1) On Social Security Section: Input your SSN or ITIN number


2) Filing Status: Try with Single or Married Filing Separate box selected for the 1040NR filers. For 1040 Filers can select Single, Married Filing Separate, Head of Household


3) Input the exact refund value USD:


4) Hit Submit.


5) Give the closest estimated date of filing the tax return [MM/DD/YY].



Where's My Refund online status check?


Online status check is available almost all of the time. Please note I.R.S. system is not open every Monday from Midnight to 3:00 am Eastern Time.

I.R.S. Refund Trace feature is not available during the following times (Eastern Time):

Sunday 12:00 am (Midnight) to 7:00 pm

Monday12:00 am (Midnight) to 6:00 am

Tuesday3:30 am to 6:00 am

Wednesday3:30 am to 6:00 am

Thursday3:30 am to 6:00 am

Friday3:30 am to 6:00 am

Saturday3:30 am to 6:00 am and 9:00 pm to 12:00 am (Midnight)

Also, occasionally I.R.S. system may be unavailable on Sundays between 1:00 am, and 7:00 am Eastern Time
